Boreas (a seasonal version)
MESSAGE:
Well, here's my watercolour Winter/Christmas version of Boreas. It all came about after me taking part in a 'Christmas Card Event' ran on Enya's official forum, Unity. I knew Enya and her lyricist Roma Ryan were Waterhouse fans (I believe that Roma owns the 1916 version of
Miranda) so I thought it'd be fun to try one of Nino's paintings but 'seasonally flavoured' shall we say? I enjoyed it so much that I decided to try and do a bigger and better one (the card I did was only a detail of the original and I did it quite quickly so as to have it sent off in time). I was thinking of doing some giclee prints of it so, any sold will have a percentage donated as part of the restoration fund.
Probably not everyone's cup-of-tea, but I thought I'd share it all the same :)
Kind regards,
Jim

RESPONSES:
I think it is wonderful ....
and enjoyed reading about the inspiration for the work.
Beautiful colors ... and such fun with the snow.
Thank you for considering doing some prints for the Appeal ...
there is recent news about that, but I just checked in here before having to get ready to go to town ... so will need to return this evening to share about that.
Really appreciate you sharing with us ... !
All the best ...
Thanks, Cathy and David! Glad you liked it :) I might do some others of Nino's work similarly themed as there's not much I like doing more than painting a Waterhouse!
Look forward to hearing your recent news, Cathy. Hopefully they've decided to keep the urn!!
Thanks again :)
To my sorrow, they haven't reconsidered keeping the urn, Jim.
I shared the news in the Restoration Appeal thread.
All the best ...
This is beautiful indeed - well done!
Thank you, Ness and Julia. Always nice to hear kind words :)
Thanks, Neil :) No prints done yet, though I've found a printer who does giclee and I'll get some done soon. I've no idea what to charge for them (they'll cost about £10 each (A3 size) to produce, not to mention the £40 for the initial scanning and colour balancing). Still, I hope to make something for the fund! Here's hoping :)
Best wishes, Jim ....
Thanks for your efforts towards the restoration fund.
